"The Hunter Plaid cooperative is the venue that concentrates the town's underground artists and musicians at a single focus, pulling in post-grad HSU art Department folk, budding painters and jewelers into a collaborative venture."
~Terrance McNally, Arcata Eye
Hunter Plaid is artist studios, music rehearsal space and an alternative gallery. We are dedicated to the creation and experience of visual and auditory arts. We remain committed to exhibiting and fostering the creation of the most progressive art in Arcata.
Located in the Sunny Brae neighborhood of Arcata, Hunter Plaid is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 12 to 6. Visitors are encouraged to not only take in the featured exhibition, but to check out the on-site artistsŐ studios as well.
The front room gallery of Hunter Plaid is devoted to showcasing the work of our studio, collective and guest artists. We represent a range of artists from all media whose influences include but are not limited to realism, abstraction, surrealism, narrative, post-graffiti, formalist, conceptual, and academic. Each month we feature a new exhibition. Artists' receptions are held during the second Friday of every month from 6pm until late, with live music, wine and hors d'oeuvres.
Look. Listen.
